The Longings Must Be Satisfied

Message from Jesus, found in “The Gospel of God’s Love”, page 371, received on July 8, 1915, through James E. Padgett.

I want to continue writing on the subject your grandmother was explaining, about the efforts of the spirit world to show humankind the truths of the Father.

I know that it will be difficult to help humankind believe in communications that may come through mediums, and that the churches will antagonize the reception of such, but I want to tell you that there will be such power exerted by the spirits of God’s Kingdom that no efforts on the parts of the antagonists or churches will be able to withstand the efforts of these spirits. Just as soon as mortals get into condition to receive these truths, they will be given all the power necessary, and the truths will come with such force and exactness that the erroneous beliefs will have to give way and let the truths that I speak of take their place.

I know it will be difficult to get the human mind into condition to receive these communications, but it will be accomplished. Humanity is now longing for God’s Truths, and their longings must be satisfied. No longer will form or ceremony and mere declarations be sufficient. The mind’s credulity must be considered when the teachings of the churches are exposed to reason, as well as to the knowledge of spiritual laws which may be obtained. These souls will hunger and thirst for God’s Love and the way to obtain it must be satisfied.

I know my Kingdom of Love will be established on earth in a fuller way than ever, and my teachings will be believed in with greater confidence, not as a god to be worshipped, but as a brother and friend, who is able to show the way to the Father’s Love and the soul’s salvation and immortality.

It is important to develop good and righteous mediums to convey these great truths. Physical phenomena do not enlighten the soul as to its destiny and which road to follow to reach God’s Kingdom. I will try to influence many mortals to get into psychic condition so that they may receive these truths and thus do an important work for the redemption of humankind. Remain consistant in your work and increase your faith, there will soon be many who engage in the same work.

I must stop now. Your brother and friend, Jesus

The Voice of Many Spirits

Excerpts from The Gospel of God’s Love, The Padgett Messages. Received from John the Baptist, September 7, 1915.

I come because I want to encourage you to pray more. The Father’s Love is waiting for you to fill your soul to its upmost, and the only thing required on your part is prayer and faith.

We all are interested in you and want you to get into a condition that will enable you to continue receiving the Master’s messages; the time is ripe for them to be delivered to humankind, so they can begin their work of redeemng souls from their false beliefs and erroneous doctrines. I, John, tell you this, for I can see that human beings are longing for the truths of God – such truths as will remove from their spiritual beliefs all superstition and error; such truths as will accord with the reasoning of the people who are not biased by erroneous beliefs.

These truths will be easier for the mere materialist to receive and understand than by those who are bound by the beliefs which the creeds and dogmas of the churches have inculcated. This revelation of God’s Gift of Love will be more easily accepted by those who have no preconceived ideas about God’s nature and relationship to his children, rather than the learned theologian, or the simple worshippers at the alters of churches who believe whatsoever may be told them by priest or preacher.

(Question asked about baptism) Well, I have been interested in the great amount of discussion on that point and how the belief, one way or the other, has caused those calling themselves ‘Christians’, to form distinct sects. If they only knew that it does not make a particle of difference to their soul’s salvation whether Jesus was immersed or sprinkled, they would not let the bitter feelings to arise that frequently do in discussing this matter. As this water was merely symbolical of the washing away of sin and error, and did not actually accomplish that great necessity, it does not make any difference whether the recipient of baptism was immersed or sprinkled.

It is strange that humans who profess to have received the forgiveness of their sins and have become reconciled to God, should let a trifling thing of this kind cause so much strife and bitter disputations.

I will stop now. Your brother in the Christ Spirit, John the Baptist

Amen

Message from Constantine, continued

“I was not a Christian when I lived, and did not die a Christian, notwithstanding all the fantastical things which have been written about me and my conversion to Christianity. When I came to the spirit world I found myself in darkness and suffering, realizing I would have to pay the penalty for the sins committed by me on earth. All the masses which were said for the benefit of my soul never helped me one particle to get out of my unhappy condition. I knew nothing about the divine love or the true mission of Jesus, and found that my sins had not been “washed away” as the teachers had told me they would.

Many long years I remained in this condition of darkness without finding any relief by reason of the mystical workings of Jesus’ atonement, nor through the help of the gods in whom I had been taught to believe by our philosophers and religious teachers. But after a time, the light of truth which Jesus came to teach, broke in on my understanding soul. The Divine Love of the Father commenced to flow into my soul, and continued until I became a possessor of it to the degree that I was carried to the celestial spheres. Here I now am – a redeemed, pure and immortal soul, having undoubting knowledge and conviction that I possess in my soul the divine essence of God, and certainty of eternal life in the Celestial Kingdom.

Before closing I wish to say, with all the force that I have, that only the Divine Love can save a soul from its sins and make it at-One with the Father in his divine nature. Let creeds, dogmas and man-made doctrines take care of themselves, and learn the truth, and in that truth abide. For truth is eternal and never changes. No decrees of mankind, or dogmas of church tradition, or creeds of ecclesiastical conventions, so solemnly adopted and declared, can make that a truth which is not a truth. Your brother in Christ, Constantine.”

Luke adds his thoughts: I desire to confirm that it was Constantine, the Roman Emperor, who wrote. He was pleased that he could correct some historical errors that have existed concerning his true position as to Christianity. He was scourged by his conscience before he got out of his condition of darkness and suffering.

Constantine Was Not A Christian

I was the Roman Emperor, and died as the head of the Christian Church.

I wasn’t really a christian and did not understand the true principles of the christian teachings, but I adopted  Christianity as a state religion because of political purposes, added to my desire to destroy the power of my antagonists who were believers in, and worshipers of the god’s of paganism.

I was a man who cared not in the slightest whether the cross or the symbol of the oracles was the true sign of religion. My great desire when I made Christianity the state religion was to obtain power and the allegiance of a majority of the people of the Empire. The christians were very numerous, and were persons of such intense convictions that I knew that when they once gave me their allegiance, I would have a following that could not be overthrown by those who were worshipers of the old gods. These people were not so much interested in their religious beliefs, individually, as to cause them to have such convictions as would interfere with any religion that I might establish. Their beliefs were not the result of personal conviction, but were merely those that had been accepted by their ansestors and transmitted to them as a kind of inheretance. They believed in the gods and the oracles as a matter of course without ever having made the objects of their beliefs matters of investigation. Truth was not sought for and hence conviction was a mere shallow acquiescence.

During all the time of my office as emperor, I never changed my beliefs, and never accepted the teachings of the Christians as a revelation of truth. And in fact, I never considered such a matter as religion worthy of serious consideration. Many doctrines were proposed and discussed by the ecclesiastical teachers and leaders of this religion, and those doctrines were approved by me which were adopted by a majority of these leaders as true. I let these leaders fight their own battles as to doctrines, and when they decided what should be accepted and declared by the church to be true, I approved the same and promulgated them as binding upon all the followers of the Christian faith.

So I did not establish the canonicity of the Bible, or determine the doctrines made binding by the conventions of the church, I only gave them my sanction.

To be continued…

Good Thoughts Create A Good Start

Thoughts are things which have the ability to lead us in a positive and loving direction or the other way. It is up to each individual to choose what they want their life to become; Happy, fulfilling, productive and helpful, or not. A person who has an upbeat attitude, and looks forward to challenges of the day, with anticipation of a positive and helpful result, will be more likely to acheive that goal than one who is apprehensive.

Now, of course, this refers to dealing with material situations and events. The more important part of a human being’s life is spiritual – their soul. It behooves a person to learn that they are a child of God. And that they can start developing the love-nature of their soul as soon as they realize that they have the free will to think thoughts of their own choosing. Accept that you are a beloved child of God. God created all souls in his image. We have the amazing potential to change that image into the very Substance of God’s Soul through prayers. Prayers are thoughts which come from the heart.

Humility is the Touchstone for an entrance into the Kingdom of God. Love is the Key that unlocks the Gates of Heaven. You have been given a will so free, that even God will not interfere with your free will chioces. So you see, it is entirely up to you to hold positive and loving thoughts in order to develop your souls condition to become at-One with God in the Nature of Divine Love, or not.

Suggestions: Speak to God from your heart. Thank your beloved Creator for all the blessings you’ve received. Do your best to put your love into every situation; be kind and helpful. Become sensitive to spiritual laws which have governance over everyone’s life; You reap what you sow. If you want to experience positive and loving events everyday, learn to become a positive and loving person.

Spiritual laws work unfailingly at all times. The mind of human beings can act-as-if they are in control, but they need to learn that spiritual laws have the last word. Even when they believe they have acheived their goal it will not prove satisfying, unless their goal was reached through a loving  motive, with desires to help them develop their love and come into harmony with God’s Will. You have the opportunity to progress, or not.

Amen

A Truthful Start Is Exceptionly Helpful

Message titled, Laws of the Spirit World, from The Gospel of God’s Love.

The great challenge is to make a start. This principle applies to mortals as well as to spirits, if the start on a Truthful quest be made on earth, the mere fact of becoming a spirit will not halt the progress of the spirit. If the start be a false one, based on things other than Truth, instead of progress continuing when the human becomes a spirit, there will need to be a retracing of the way, and a new start made, in order to get on the right road.

This applies to the progress of the mind as well as to the progress of the soul.  The mind of a mortal learns many things which seem to that mind to be the truth, and which, in its opinion, must lead to progress and greater knowledge. But when earth life gives way to spirit life, that mind may find that its basis of knowledge was in error, and that to continue in the way it had been moving would lead to increased error; and consequently, that a new start must be made.

Frequently, the retracing of that mind over the course that it had followed, and the elimination of errors that it had embraced is more difficult, and takes longer to accomplish than the learning of truth does after the mind makes its correct start. So the mind of great learning is more of a detriment, and retards more the progress of a spirit in the ways and acquirements of truth than does the mind that is a like a blank-that is, without preconceived ideas of what the truth is on a particular subject.

This unfortunate experience exists to a greater extent in matters pertaining to religion than any others, because the ideas and convictions which are taught and possessed of these religious matters affect innumerably more mortals than do ideas and convictions of any other subject. A spirit who is filled with these erroneous beliefs, which he may have been taught from early childhood, and fostered upon by him until he becomes a spirit, is the most difficult to teach and convince of the truths pertaining to religious matters. It’s often easier to teach the agnostic, or even the atheist, of these truths, than the hide-bound believer in the dogmas and creeds of an earthly religion.

Spirit Communication Is A Fact

From St. John, received on April 23, 1916, through James Padgett.

“…How regettable it is that while humans may know – and I emphasize  know - the Truth of immortality if they will only seek for it, yet they do not seek. Although it is open to discovery even without the information we are giving you. This refers to the continuation of life after death; Divine Immortality can only be learned from the teachings of our communications.

Continuation of life after death can become established as a fact even to the satisfaction of the orthodox preachers who seek with an open mind, separated from beliefs that keep them from accepting as true any and every thing not contained in the Bible. It has been an established fact for a long time, antidating the Bible, that spirits communicate to mortals on earth. The Bible has many instances where such occurances were declared. But while these orthodox teachers accept all these instances as true, yet they say that they were caused by some ‘special interposition’ of God. But this same cause applies also to all the instances of spirit communication that have taken place since then.

Unchangable law governs all God’s universe, nothing happens by chance. Every instance of spirit communication is the result of God working in an orderly manner. Faith and hope may become so strong as to satisfy their doubts on the question, but even then it is not knowledge. This faith and hope will fade into insignificance when a mother, mourning  her recently departed son, hears his voice declaring that he is still alive, is with her, has all his love for her, and feels her love for him.

But these teachers will not seek, or if they do, and feel their hope and faith turn to knowledge, they will not declare the truth to their flock. And why not? Because the creeds and dogmas and iron bands of erroneous belief forbid them doing so. They will preach freedom of press, and even lay down their lives for such cause; but when they come to deal with this question of supreme and vital fact, they are afraid to seek the truth, or in seeking and finding, to declare the freedom of their beliefs from the bondage of their creeds.

What responsibility they have, and what an answer they will have to make! They bury the truth and their accounting will be grievous.

Amen

Why Mortals Don’t Seek For God’s Love

Excerpts from “The Gospel of God’s Love” Book One, from St. Paul.

“What is the reason that mortals do not seek the Love of the Father rather than Believe in the Creeds of the churches to which they belong?” It might seem the mortals themselves could better tell the reasons for this preference, but this supposition would not be true, because they do not know the reason. The reasons which they might give, and the true reasons for their preference are two and very different things.

First, they believe the creeds of their churches contain the truths of God and mortals’ relationship to him, and that if they follow these creeds, they will do what is pleasing to God. And hence they remain satisfied to abide in such knowledge, and seek no further to learn the Truths of their being and their Salvation.

The creeds, in many particulars, do not contain the truths of these spiritual matters, but mortals have no ready way to discover this, so this is one reason they follow the creeds. They have nothing else to which they can resort, as a source of Truth, except the statements of truth which the Bible does contain. Yet in their condition of mental and soul development, they would not be able to discern the truths therein disclosed, or recognize any distinction between such truths and what they believe as part of their creeds.

For many long years – generation after generation – these creeds have been accepted and believed in and proclaimed to be the truth by the churches. And followers of these creeds have seen their parents and grandparents resting in the assurance that these creeds contain truth, and have seen these relatives live and die apparently happy in their beliefs. They become satisfied to do that which those before them did, and not question or search for truth elsewhere, or even think it can be found elsewhere. And as humans are constituted, it may be said that such a condition is entirely natural. (Natural, yes, but not Divine.)

Having thus grown up with their beliefs, it saves them the trouble of exercising their mind to any comprehensive degree. And hence you will see it is not difficult for them to make the preference; for in fact there is no preference, but a condition of mind that has no room for any preference.

Pray to become at-One with God

Excerpts from “The Gospel of God’s Love”, The Padgett Messages, from Luke.

I know it is said that human beings are divine because they were created in the image of God, but nothing which is the mere image is ever a part of the substance, so cannot possibly have the qualities of that substance. Commonly speaking, the image may have the appearance, and for the ordinary affairs of life may serve the purpose of the real, until something arises that demands the production of the real, and then the image will no longer serve the purpose.

In the case of the creation of human souls, they were made in the image of God in one particular only, and that in the matter of soul appearance. The physical or spiritual body was not made in the image of God, for God has no such bodies; only the soul is made in the image of God, the great Oversoul. And so long as the soul remains in the image of the Father, it will never be more than the mere human that it was at the time of its  creation, and the divine substance of the Father will not be a part of their soul.

At the creation of the human soul, God’s plan was that the image might become the substance, and there was given to the soul, the potential of obtaining that substance. But humans, through their “disobedience” or failure to comply with or follow out the requirements of the plan provided, forfeited this potential which had been confered upon them, and thereby lost the possibility of having the image transformed into the substance – which was absolutely necessary in order for humans to become the possessor of any part of the Father’s divinity. And so, when humans call themselves divine, they assert that which is not true – but which, since the coming of Jesus, may become true.

Because of the First Parents’ choice to not become dependent upon God, they forfeited the potentiality to receive God’s Grace. They continued to live for many years after the potential to receive Divine Love ‘died’, their spirit bodies and souls never died, for they still live. The only thing that died was the possibility of  receiving the substance which would make them divine and immortal.

If our first parents had prayed for the Father’s Love, the potential to receive it would never have been lost.

Amen

More about the at-Onement by Luke

Atonement, or at-Onement, in its true meaning, never meant the payment of a debt, or the appeasing of the wrath of God (God never had any wrath), but simply the becoming at-One with God in those qualities that will insure humans the possession of Divine Love and the Immortality that Jesus brought to light. The sacrifice of Jesus could have no possible effect upon the condition of human soul qualities, and neither could the shedding of blood make a vile and sinful soul pure and free from sin.

God’s universe is governed by laws as immutable as they are perfect in their workings, and the great thing to be accomplished by the plan, which God provided for the redemption of human beings, is to have everyone come into harmony with these laws – because just as soon as that harmony exists, there will be no more discord, and sin will not be known to humanity.

Human beings, when created, were endowed with natural love, and that love was in perfect harmony with God’s universe. So long as it was permitted to exist in its pure state, it was part of that harmony, but when it became defiled with sin, or anything not in harmony with God’s laws, it became inharmonious and the only redemption required was the removing of those things that caused the inharmony.

Now the only way this inharmony could be removed was by the natural love becoming again pure and free from that which defiled it. The sacrifice on the cross could not furnish this remedy, and neither could the blood atonement, because the sacrifice and the blood had no relation to the evil to be remedied.

If these things paid the penalty and satisfied God, and thereby he had no further claim upon humans for any debt supposedly due him, it necessarily implies that God kept humans souls in this condition of inharmony, and would not permit it to be removed until his demands for satisfaction and blood had been met. And that then, when he should be appeased, he would permit humans to again come into harmony with his laws and the workings of the universe. In other words, God would compel people to remain out of harmony with the laws of the universe until his demands for sacrifice and blood were satisfied.

This is something too absurd to believe anyone would adopt as a means of salvation.

Amen
